Fritz "Key" Schwarting, 85, of Victoria passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. He was born Sept. 28, 1926 in Cameron to the late Fritz and Rose Folinchsky Schwarting. Fritz served his country in the U. S. Army, worked for Brown & Root from 1952–1954, and Union Carbide from 1954-1968. He was a past Worship Master of Victoria Masonic Lodge #40.
He is survived by his daughters, Jamie Key Cryan and husband, David Cryan, of Sealy, and Jackie Allen Meyer and husband, Richard Meyer, of Port Lavaca; four grandchildren, Tonya Scott of Dallas, Kelli Vecera of Austin, Dr. Tyson Meyer of Victoria, and Leslie New of Temple; 11 great-grandchildren, Harrison, Molly and Matthew Whitzel, Paul and John Vecera, Lucas, Dania, Adan and Eva Meyer, and Kamie and Morgen New; a brother-in-law, Dr. Jack Allen.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Rose Tubbs, Dorothy Hasselman and Helen Schwarting; and one brother, Elwood Schwarting.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, at Grace Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, April 13, at Grace Funeral Home with Father Don Schwarting officiating. Burial followed late Friday afternoon in Cameron, Texas.
Pallbearers were Dr. Tyson Meyer, David Cryan, Richard Meyer, Carter Vecera, Randall Scott, Dr. Jack Allen and Dr. Aaron New. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Fritz's name be directed to Hospice of South Texas.
Grace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
