Early in life she united with the Union Christian Church, near High Point, and continued her membership there until 1918, at which time she united with the Green Ridge Baptist Church. She attended church there and kept her membership at Green Ridge throughout the rest of her life.

Casket bearers were Lawrence Hogsett, Andy Zey, Earl, Edd, Harold and Gerald Simmers. Mrs. Simmers' grandchildren carried the beautiful flowers at the service. The body lay in state at her home in Olean until 2:30 p.m. Monday when funeral services were conducted at the Green Ridge Church by Rev. N.E. Williams of Eldon, assisted by Rev. A.L. Alexander of Eldon, and Rev. Swinney of Eldon. Members of the Green Ridge choir furnished the music for the service with Mrs. Harry Rea at the piano.
