Gustav Oliver "Gus" Forslund
Birth: Apr. 25, 1906
Death: Aug. 4, 1962

Professional Hockey Player. A native of Umea, Sweden, Forslund was the first Swedish-born hockey player in the National Hockey League (NHL). Forslund also played for the TBSHL, AHA, IHL, Can-Am, and the USHL hockey leagues. At 5'10", and 150lbs, Forslund played the position of Right Wing for the Port Arthur Ports from 1926 to 1929, Duluth Hornets from 1929 to 1932, Ottawa Senators from 1932 to 1933, Syracuse-Windsor from 1933 to 1934, Philadelphia Arrows from 1934 to 1935, New Haven Eagles from 1935 to 1936, Fort William Wanderers from 1936 to 1938, Duluth Zephyrs from 1938 to 1939, and the Geraldton Gold Miners from 1939 to 1941. Forslund retired from playing hockey in 1941. He passed away in Geraldton, Ontario, in August 1962, at the age of 56.  (bio by: K)
