Clarence W. Kunkel, 88, died in his residence at 340 Old Philly Pike, Kempton on August 23, 2005. He was the husband of Evelyn M. (Bond) Kunkel, who currently resides in Kutztown Manor. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on Nov. 22, 2004.
He was born in Lynn Township, a son of the late Warren C. and Beulah G. (Rausch) Kunkel. He worked for the former Reading Railroad and then later worked for Red Check Inc., Fleetwood. He also operated, along with his wife, a seasonal greenhouse business at his residence. He was a member of New Bethel Lutheran Church, Kempton.
Survivors: Besides his wife includes a son, John C. Kunkel and his wife, Sally A. (Howerter) Kunkel, of Nazareth; sister, Miriam B. Reichel of Kutztown; brother, Herman Kunkel of Allentown; two grandsons, Christopher Kunkel of Philadelphia and Michael Kunkel of Nazareth. He was preceded in death by a son, James C. Kunkel, a sister, Arlene Kistler, and five brothers, Clayton, Ellis, George, Howard and Ivan Kunkel.
Services: memorial, 2 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2005 in New Bethel Union Church, 135 New Bethel Church Road, Kempton. No calling hours. The Nester Funeral Home, New Tripoli, is in charge of arrangements.
