Death of Mrs. Howell
A large number of people of the city were pained yesterday morning to hear of the sudden death of Mrs. Mary B. Howell, which took place during the early part of the morning, death resulting from heart disease. Mrs. Howell had been failing since last February, but had apparently been in the best of health for the past few days. The evening before she seemed to be very cheerful and spoke to her son Harry at about eleven o'clock. Miss Etta, who was sleeping with her mother, first discovered that her mother was dead, when she awoke in the morning. Mrs. Mary B. Howell was born at Reading, Pennsylvania, in 1849 and was one of the early pioneers in the west coming overland to Denver, where she was married to Mr. Charles Howell, in the year 1866 and in 1870 they came to this city where she made her home ever since. She leaves to mourn her loss three loving children, Harry Howell her only son, and Misses Florence and Etta Howell. A host of friends tender them most heartfelt sympathy in their sad bereavement. The funeral will take place from the Episcopal church tomorrow afternoon at three o'clock.

1900 living in Grand Island, with son and daughters and lists herself as a widow, but Charles is listed in the census in New York. Charles passes away in the soldiers home in Hampton, VA 28 May 1920 and is buried in Virginia.
