Beatrice Pearl Stenhouse, 86, of DeKalb, Ill., died Saturday, May 19, 2012, at her home at Oak Crest DeKalb Area Retirement Center, DeKalb. Born June 26, 1925, in Chicago, the daughter of Harry and Eleanora (Carroll) Carney, she married Alexander David Stenhouse on Dec. 27, 1946, in Chicago.

Beatrice was currently a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, DeKalb, and a former member of Burbank Manor Presbyterian Church for nearly 60 years. She truly loved and was devoted to her family and was a generous volunteer for both community and church. She also was a pen pal to students at Brooks Elementary School in DeKalb. She had a green thumb, and nurtured both plants and the animals she loved.

She is survived by her children, Susan (Jack) Satterthwaite of Downers Grove, Christine (Chuck) Hacker of DeKalb and Heather (John) Haas of Burbank; six grandchildren, Erin (Tim) Shramek, Sara (Dan) Moldenhauer, Katie (Mike) Skibbie, Charlie (Shana) Hacker, Leigh Haas and Alex Haas; great-grandchildren, Sofia, John, Will, Evan, Jacob, Austin and one to be added very soon; twin sister, Bertha Lamont of Florida; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers; and four sisters.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 830 N. Annie Glidden Road, DeKalb, with the Rev. Blake Richter and the Rev. Karen Herbst-Kim officiating. Interment of cremated remains will follow at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Beatrice P. Stenhouse Memorial Fund, in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 S. Fourth St., DeKalb, IL 60115.
