Almeda Lurl Layman Thornton age 92 of Dandridge, TN. went to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 21, 2012.
She was a faithful and loving wife , devoted Mother and Momaw.
She accepted Jesus as her Savior at a young age.
Mrs. Thornton was a lifelong resident of Chestnut Hill and a retiree of Bush Brothers.
She was born on April 25, 1919 to the late Dock John and Artie Mae Byrd Layman.
She was preceded in death also by her husband, Roy Thornton; son, Vern Thornton; granddaughter, Tryna Thornton Wheatley and 3 brothers, Conard, Sears and G. L. Layman.
She is survived by her son, Roger Thornton and wife Linda; daughters, Janice and husband, Steve McCoig and Eva Askew; daughter-in-law, Wilma Thornton; grandchildren, Grant Thornton and wife, Debbie; Velina Thornton and Billy Roberts; Janeen Saunders and husband, David; Jessica Gann and husband, Joey; Sharla McClure and husband, Marty; Lance Askew and grand son-in-law, Lee Wheatley; great grandchildren, Cherish and Lakenzie Crawford; Millicent and Mason Thorton; Jaden and Emma McClure; Abigail and Rachel Gann; Willow Wheatley ; Isabella, Reagan and Reilly Saunders.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Amedisy's Hospice of Morristown for their care of her in her last few months of life.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in the chapel of Rawlings Funeral Home in Sevierville, TN.
Services will follow the visitation at 8:00 P.M. with Pastor, Jerry Colbert and Rev. Curtis Wells officiating.
Family and friends will gather in the Burchfield Memorial Cemetery for the interment service beginning at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012.
