MERIDIAN — Services for Howard P. Slayton will be held Saturday at 12 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ed Shoemaker and Jim Gordon officiating. Burial will be in Stinson Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Slayton, 91, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Bedford Care in Marion. He was a member of Cathedral Assembly of God Church in Meridian and was retired from the May Webb Hosiery Mill. He was a veteran of World War II while serving in the United States Army. He also served as a Lay Minister with the Assembly of God and was well known for his hobby of making hand-made wind chimes, which are spread throughout Lauderdale and Clarke County.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Elease Slayton; mother and father, Press and Mary Slayton; daughter, Mary Elease Busby; brother, Jasper Slayton; and three sisters, Margaret Dearman, Flora Scrimphshire and Sue Yarbrough.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cathedral Assembly of God Church or to the American Diabetes Association.
