OBITUARY

Dwight Carlton Perry, Sr., was born on January 28, 1953 to Alvester H. and Mary E. Perry in Wendell, NC. He departed this life on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Wake Medical Center Raleigh, NC.

Dwight graduated from James E. Shepard High School in Zebulon, NC in 1971. He attended A& T State University, Greensboro, NC for two years. His dream of pursuing a degree was interrupted by his love and duty to defend his country. He enlisted and served in the US Army and received an honorable discharge after a four year tour.
He was a people-oriented, fun-loving, charismatic and was not afraid to take risks or blaze ne trails. He became an expert boatman and most recently took flying lessons. He loved traveling, learning new cultures and appreciating God's canvas of beauty. He also had a "green thumb" and enjoyed growing house plants and other vegetations.

His classic good looks and well-toned physique led him into a brief modeling career throughout North Carolina. Dwight possessed and developed a keen business interest in the automobile industry which led him to the Chrysler Corporation in Detroit, MI and owning the first Black Chrysler Dealership in Madison, WI. He had successes in the auto industry in Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, and California just to name a few states. In spite of his great achievements, he yearned to be near his home and family, he relocated to the Raleigh-Durham area in 2011. Dwight was a member of the Masonic Order, Wilson Lodte#4 (PHA) and Kabala Temple 177 Raleigh, NC.

Dwight was married to Janet Fowler Perry and to this union two children were born. Dwight also has a daughter currently residing in Atlanta, GA.
Dwight had a strong faith in God. He embraced many worship experiences throughout his life. He especially enjoyed worshiping at Pleasant Grove and Riley Hill Baptist Church.

Dwight was a loving son, father, brother and uncle. His animated demeanor, jokes and pranks endeared him to all who know him. These characteristics will be sorely missed at all the family gatherings.

Dwight is survived by his three children, Turquoise Perry of Orange Park, FL, Dwight Perry Jr., of Silver Springs, MD and Ashley Maltbia of Atlanta, GA; his loving mother, Mary E. Perry and his father, Alvester H. Perry (Romell) all of Wendell, NC; one brother, Vernon L. Perry (Patricia) of Gastonia, NC; two sisters, Brenda Perry Coffield Fellmer (Bern) of Heidelerg, Germany and Dr. LaVonnie Perry-Claboyn (Swazoo) of Memphis, TN; two aunts, Wanda Poole and Wave Perry Simmons both of Raleigh, NC; one uncle, Joshua L. Perry (Nina) of Wendell, NC; one granddaughter, Dylan Perry; three nephews, Vernon Perry Jr., Swazoo Claybon III, and Joshua-James Claybon; a special friend; Sharon Johnson and a host of other relatives and friends.
