| Birth: | Feb. 28, 1883 Eagle Lake Colorado County Texas, USA | | Death: | Dec. 16, 1944 Houston Harris County Texas, USA |  Carrie Chappell, the daughter of Carey Blanton and Alice Bailey, was born February 28, 1883 in Eagle Lake, Colorado County, Texas. She moved to Houston around the turn of the 20th century where she lived in 4th Ward, better known as Freedman's Town. Then by 1910 she moved to the Greater 5th Ward area of the city where she remained. She worked as a cook for many years and then became a laundress working from home after she took over the care of her young grandchildren when their mother died.
Carrie died December 16, 1944 from sub-acute nephritis caused by hypertension. I. S. Lewis Funeral Home was in charge of her burial and she was interred in Oak Park Cemetery, which is Golden Gate Cemetery today, Houston, TX on December 20, 1944.
