Born in Allendorf, Hessen-Kassel located in the central portion of the present day Germany in the town of near Kassel. His mother was Margaretha Elisabeth Mader, an unmarried commoner. He was baptized on the 11 day of January 1805 in the Lutheran Church. He was the alleged son of an Electoral Prinz, who was the Major Grenadier Battalion (long tailed decaped), and according to the translator, his father was a baron in the Kuooring Battalion in the Hessen Army. His mother Margaretha sued his father for support, a very brave thing to do in 1805 Germany. Major von Hausen was declared the father of the child by a court ruling on 12 May 1827. By this time Margarethe had married another man. By doing so, von Hausen argued, she had deprived him of an opportunity to propose marriage to her. Carl was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in 1819. August Friedrich Carl Von Hausen was married to Anna Margaretha Rehbein , who was the daughter of Econamist Johann Rehbein and Anna Martha Wagner Rehbein from Dietzenrode District Heiligenstadt-Eichsfeld. She who died on voyage to America along with her daughter in 1843. They were married in the Lutheran Church in Bad Soden (Sooden) Allendorf in 1831. They had four daughters: Catherine Elisabeth Von Hausen called Jenny born 10-7-1838 died 1854(died at age 16), Marie Wilhelmine Von Hausen born 1-5-1843 and died at sea during voyage to USA, Marie Elizabeth Martha Von Hausen born 12-18-1840, baptisted 12-30-1840 and died in Europe June 26, 1843 and Rosalie Carolyn Emilie Von Hausen born 8-20-1836 and called Amelia. In 1841 an international crisis gave rise to rumors of a possible French attack on Germany, amd Carl Von Hausen, a muscian, emigrated to American in the summer of 1843 to avoid being drafted into the Germany Army.His wife and baby Marie Wilhelmine died on ship board and were buried at sea. The trip was long and had, no fresh fruit and they lived on practically nothing but hard tack (a kind of candy) according to Amelia.When they reached America, Amelia (as she was called in America), her sister Jenny, and her father Carl came to the town of Saxonburg, founded by Roebling in 1832 by 300 famalies that sailed from Muehlhauser for America in three different boats. Carl brought a Cornet from Germany. He tried to farm in Saxonburg but could not make a living and he and his two daughters came to Allegheny where later they lived on Canal Street. In the Pittsburgh and Allegheny Directory, year 1878-1879, there is a listing for Carl Jr Musician 129 Canal Street He married Mrs Catherine Margaret Moerlein(who had a son named Christian by a previous marriage) and had four more children: Caroline (Lena), Charles, Henry, and Emma Barbara von Hausen.
