Robert "Bob" Ciurczak, beloved husband, father, teacher, coach and friend to many, passed away November 18, 2009 after a long battle with prostate cancer.
Bob will be sorely missed by his wife Carroll, his five children Mary Beth Konrad, Regina Ciurczak, Robert "Bob" Ciurczak, Jr, John Ciurczak and Amy Franze, his five grandchildren Katie and Bob Ciurczak, Reynolds Kennedy, Nathan and Jenna Franze and his great grandson Charlie Ciurczak. He will be missed as the favorite Father-in-Law to Dick Konrad, Richard Kennedy, Alicia Ciurczak and Harry Franze.
Bob was a life long resident of New Jersey. He was born in Orange, NJ on May 17th, 1926. He is a graduate of East Orange High School and Seton Hall University. He earned a Bachelor's of Science and Masters Degree in both History and Education.
He served honorably in the United States Army, where he was given the opportunity to travel throughout Europe as a member of the US Army baseball team. He was the first string pitcher for the 25th Brigade Tiger baseball team with an impressive 17-3 record.
Bob spent his professional time as a teacher, educator and coach in Denville New Jersey for over 35 years. He enjoyed many summers as Recreation Director at Gardner Field in Denville. Known to many students as "Mr. C" he leaves a lasting legacy as a wonderful and memorable teacher for many students who have contacted him over the years to thank him for his inspiration and encouragement. A lifelong love of sports included many years of coaching baseball, basketball, soccer and football at Seton Hall Prep and at various schools in Denville. He was an avid fan of Seton Hall Basketball and spent years enjoying the games from his "great seats".
Bob was a generous spirit who spent many hours in service to the community as a volunteer. He received many honors for his services including Million Dollar Man of the Year for the American Cancer Society, Rotarian of the Year from Rotary International and numerous teaching awards including numerous Teachers' of the Year.
Relatives and Friends will be received on Tuesday December 1st, from 2-4 and 7-9PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com, (please light a candle in memory of Bob on website). All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial service on Wednesday December 2nd at 10am at St. Therese's Church, 151 Main St., Succasunna, NJ.
