Herger Lucille Gee Cain, 93, of the Evergreen community, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in the Southland Healthcare facility after an illness. She passed peacefully with excellent care from McLeod Hospice.
Mrs. Cain was born in Columbia, SC, a daughter of the late John Samuel Gee and Camile Scurry Gee. Mrs. Cain brought love and laughter to all who knew her. Her children, grandchildren and friends were blessed by her contagious joy. She was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church for 76 years.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Raymond Cain; a brother John Gee; sisters Sadie Gee Meggs and Gwedolyn Gee Condas.
She is survived by her son Russell (Lynn) Cain of Apex, NC, and her daughter Martha Rose Cain (Richard) Bird of Evergreen, SC; her grandchildren Steve (Jenny) Cain of Apex, NC, Debbie (Albert) Sanders of Clayton, NC, Mike Cain of Florida, Jeff (Lisa) Cain of Snow Hill, NC, Marty Bird (Danny) Riley of Evergreen, SC, Richie (Rebecca) Bird of Evergreen, SC, Paul (Denise) Bird of Evergreen, SC; sister-in-law Nora Calcutt Gee Hodge of Florence, SC; and her many great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Tabernacle United Methodist Church Saturday, May 19th at 11am, with Rev. Ricky Howell, Jr. presiding. The family will receive friends at the Cain Fellowship Hall following the service.
