Mr. Donald G. De Boer, 79, died Sunday, June 28 at Valley Manor in Rock Valley. Services were held Tuesday, June 30 at the American Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Henry J. Vermeer officiated. Burial followed at Hope Cemetery in Hull under the direction of Kraai-Oolman Funeral Home of Hull.
Donald Gustav was born Jan. 10, 1908 at Alton, the son of Gossen De Boer and Hattie Scholten De Boer. One June 4, 1930 he married Hazel Marian Bolks at Hull.
They farmed at Hull and Don operated a corn sheller. He then went into the dairy business and later developed a cream route, with which he was involved for many years.
More recenlty, he managed a bowling alley and sold seed corn, retiring about 1975. In 1986, he became a resident of Valley Manor. De Boer was a member of the American Reformed Church in Hull, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and teacher.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Jim (Vivian) Strayer, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Mrs. Marion (Sharon) Hubers and Mrs. Michael (Kathy) Dudding, both of Estherville; 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; 5 brothers and sisters, Robert of Owasso, Okla.; Mrs. Harold (Augusta) Bolks of Hull; Chester of Hull; Mrs. Neil (Gladys) Ripley of Lincoln, Mo.; and Bernard of Le Mars; and stepmother, Coba Slager of Hull.
He was preceeded in death by two granddaughters.
