Born September 3, 1949 in Washington DC, she was the daughter of the late Wendell Edward Paine and the late Norma Jean Cradler Paine.
In early life she was raised by her grandparents Clair D. and Freda M. Cook Breckenridge.
She was a homemaker and an avid arts and crafter and crocheter.
Previously she was employed as a teller at Jefferson Security Bank of Shepherdstown and at Hollywood Casino in Charles Town WV.
She is survived by her long time companion David Valentine of Martinsburg WV, daughter Kimberly Byrd and husband Douglas of Martinsburg, daughter Kelly J. Griffin of Shepherdstown, son Terry Griffin and wife Erin of Fayetteville, WV, stepsons Jemal and Justin Valentine of Boonsboro, MD. She is also survived by the father of her children, Clyde Griffin, of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, her brother John Paine and wife Cathy of Anson, Maine; two nieces, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters Nila Langenstein and Linda Gysberts and an infant brother and sister.
Family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W King Street in Martinsburg from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, May 21, 2012.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday May 22nd with Chaplain Doug Knupp officiating. Interment will be at Mt. View Cemetery in Sharpsburg, MD.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle and the American Cancer Society.
