BURLINGTON - Mrs. Ruby Kimrey Dollar, 88, of Burlington, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 6:41 a.m.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late James Pasley Dollar Jr. and the daughter of Lonnie Preston Kimrey and Mary Riley Kimrey, both deceased.
She was a graduate of Burlington Business College and Louisburg College. Along with her husband, she was co-owner and operator of Dollar's Phillips 66 Service Station. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was involved in Girl Scouts. Ruby was a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Builders Sunday School Class and served on various committees through the years.
Survivors include her daughter, the Rev. Penny Dollar Farmer and husband John of Arapahoe, N.C.; two sons, Nelson Dollar and wife Lorrie of Cary and Daniel Dollar and wife Ellen of West Hartford, Conn.; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Farmer Tillman and Grace Farmer Nanney, Ian Dollar, Leah Dollar, Meg Dollar and Ben Dollar; and one great-grandchild, Lillie Tillman.
She was preceded in death by two sons, James Pasley Dollar III and David Kimrey Dollar.
The funeral service will be conducted at Davis Street United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 4 p.m. by the Rev. Ellen McCubbin. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
