Virginia Purkey, 90, passed away May 15, 2012.
She was preceded in death by husband, Lloyd; mother and father, George and Bertha Holt Johnston; brothers, Bobby, Billy, George, Roy, and James; and sisters, Fannie and Sarah.
Survivors include sons, George and Betty Purkey of Warner Robins, Ga., Gary and Pat Bradburn of Louisville; daughter, Shirley and Dan Ferguson of Louisville; sisters, Effie and Vic Fisher of Weaverville, N.C., Mary Johnston, Sue Hollander, and Nancy Merlinmo of Michigan; brother, Earl Johnson, of Maryville; 3 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, in the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clarence Byrd and Rev. Jim Malone officiating. Family and friends will meet 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Zion Chapel Cemetery for a graveside service. The family will receive friends 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
