After Eddie's 20 year military career in the USAF they retired and settled in Perry County between New Augusta and Richton. Earle, as she was known by her friends and family, began to involve herself in the community where she and Eddie were welcomed and respected for over 37 years. Earle was actively involved in the New Augusta United Methodist Church and then most recently her community church, Seminary Baptist Church. There she was committed not only to her church and Sunday School Class, but her most dutiful volunteer services were to the Prayer Room in the church. She delighted in dropping everything when it was time to make her way to the church for prayer. It was a job she considered a blessing. Throughout her life she was active in many civic clubs, political organizations and community service projects, too numerous to list. However, The Come As You Are Prayer Group deserves mention. She was a prayer warrior for her family and friends. In remembering her life and all that she accomplished it is with great pleasure that her husband, Eddie; children, Skip and Kim; and her grandchildren, Christy, Robin and Kris; and step grandchild, Keri; and step great-grandchildren Mason and Taylor, remember the wonderful woman she was to her family, the Godly examples she set forth and modeled, and most importantly the prayer she offered up for each of us. Earle was a beloved and faithful wife for 56 years, a loving and nurturing mother for 55 years, a spoiling and precious grandmother for 28 years, an accepting and generous mother-in-law and a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt and cousin to her family. Yet more special for us to remember is that for all of her 80 years, she was and will always be a child of God.
Edna Earle Cousins was preceded in death by her Mother, Marguerite Hatten Hearst and Father, Albert A. (Bert) Hearst II, sister, Billie Bert Cobb McKinley.
