Eugene W. Elder,90, of 3539 100 Place North, Pinellas Park, Florida, formerly of Aliquippa, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 1988 in Metropolitan General Hospital, Pinellas Park. Born October 29, 1897 in Murdocksville, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Stewart and Jennie Withrow Elder, he was employed as a personnel manger in the employment office of the Aliquippa Works, Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp., retiring in 1962 with 40 years of service. A former member of the First Unite Presbyterian Church, Aliquippa, he served as an elder and treasurer of the Exchange Club, both of the church and ws a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Aliquippa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Morgan Elder in 1959 and a brother Robert Leonard Elder. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and James R. Davis, with whom he resided; a granddaughter, Jan Williams, Clearwater, Florida; a grandson, James R. Davis, Jr, Fort Lauderdale, Florida and two great-great grandchildren, Kathy and Shannon Williams. Services will be conducted Thursday in the Darroch Funeral Home, Aliquippa with the Rev. Leslie G. Kessler of Pittsburgh officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Aliquippa. - Beaver County Times, September 5, 1988.
