James Pinckney Hammond's father was William C. "Buck" Hammond of Hall County, Georgia. (W. C.'s middle name of Cicero has not been verified 100%). J.P.'s mother is now recognized as Millie Whitworth Hammond. Many researchers may have her last name as Russom, or something other.
J.P.'s death date on the tombstone is 26 Jan 1923. This agrees with the date stated in the obituary in the Calhoun Times for Feb 1, 1923, which states he died "last Friday". The Friday prior to Feb 1, 1923 was 26 Jan, 1923.
Many Census records list J.P.'s wife's name as a variant of Eveline. The tombstone indicates it as "Eveline", so I have added her record on this website as such. DJH
