Inez Madden, 88, of Ormond Beach, Fla., formerly of Chicora, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Ormond Memorial Hospital, Ormond Beach, after a short illness. Born Jan. 9, 1918, in Chicora, she was a daughter of Joseph and Eugenia "Jenny" Responts Parisi. After graduating from Chicora's Millerstown High School in 1935, she entered nurses' training at Allegheny Valley Hospital inTarentum and received her nursing degree in 1944. She completed her Army basic training in nursing at Camp Lee, Va., on May 11, 1945. She became a first lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps on April 16, 1945, and served on active duty until Feb. 17, 1947. She then worked at the Butler Memorial Hospital for 30 years and retired in 1980. Mrs. Madden was a member of the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church of Chicora and the Altar-Rosary Society and the Christian Mothers of the church. She also was a member of the Chicora Senior Center, the Chicora VFW and the American Legion posts and the Jean Parker American Legion Post of Lyndora. She is survived by three daughters, Carol L. Clicquennoi of Butler and Mrs. Ron (Jean) Lasher and Mrs. Michael (Joan) Bruno, both of Ormond Beach; and four grandchildren. A brother, Larry Parisi of Butler; two sisters, Mrs. George (Thelma) Reeder of Slippery Rock and Twyla "Babe" Baccanti of Chicora; and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson, two sisters and two brothers. MADDEN - Friends of Inez Madden, who died Monday, April 3, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Steighner Funeral Home, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, Chicora, with the Rev. David DeWitt officiating. Burial will be at Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.
