He enlisted in the Army on July 18, 1941, prior to the war, in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Machinist's apprentice, Single, without dependents, and as having been born in 1917 in Kansas.

He "Died Of Wounds" received in action during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
