In 1939, Elma moved to Los Angeles by truck, which must have sparked her love of motoring across country to her favorite destination: Wardell. She also had a favorite hobby: spending time with her relatives; and her fondest and most rewarding chore: nurturing her children.
She was fortunate enough to have had a long career in the family restaurant business, working for three different brothers.
Elma was baptized in Christ, accepting Jesus as her Lord and Savior, in 1980 at Greater New Light Baptist Church in Los Angeles, where she remained a member for the rest of her life.
Memories of her are cherished by: two brothers, Levi Drew and Abraham Harston of Los Angeles; two sisters, Ruth Green of Los Angeles and Wilzetta Wilson of Wardell; four children, Barry, Donzetta, Doris, and Jennifer; six grandchildren, Lisa, LaKeisha, Janane, Clinton, Sinclair and Lun; and a host of loving relatives and in-laws, friends and neighbors.
