For nine seasons (1983 to 1991), he was a pitcher with the Kansas City Royals, Seattle Mariners, Cleveland Indians and Toronto Blue Jays. He attended De LaSalle High School in New Orleans where he was participated in baseball, football and basketball. He continued his athletics at Tulane University, where he established himself a standout baseball player who achieved All-American status. He was a member of the Green Wave's baseball team which reached the NCAA Tournament and contributed at the punter position with the football squad who appeared in the Liberty Bowl in 1979. Selected by Kansas City during the 1st round of the 1980 Amateur Draft, he marked his Major League debut with the Royals on July 31st, 1983 and pitched in 6 games that season, recording 2 wins. Throughout the majority of his career, Wills struggled with an elevated ERA, however in 1989 while with the Blue Jays, he maintained a 3.66 ERA in 24 games at season's end. The following year (1990), he produced a career-high 6 victories in 44 games pitched. In 154 regular season games, he compiled a 22 win 26 loss record with a 5.06 lifetime ERA in 435 innings pitched. Wills was inducted into the Tulane Athletics Hall of Fame in 1988. (bio by: C.S.)
