June F. Bassler, age 92, a resident at Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Roaring Spring, died Sunday morning at the home. She was born in Henrietta the daughter of the late Dean and Elizabeth Ayers. She married John H. Bassler on June 28, 1942 in Loysburg. He died October 24, 2006. She is survived by a son, John G. Bassler and wife Linda of Oley, PA; 4 Grandchildren, Allan Bassler and wife Karen of Altoona, Janine Hallam and husband Gregg of Reading, Jodi Enoch and husband Doug of Hershey, and Mike Bassler of New York City; and 5 Great Grandchildren, R.J. Bassler and Helena Bassler of Altoona, Erika Hallam of Reading, Michael Enoch of Hershey, and Ryan Enoch and wife Laura of New York City. She was preceded in death by a son, Allan Cary, in 1951; 3 Grandchildren, Joel Bassler, in 2002, Garrett Bassler, in 1970, and Collett Bassler, in 1974; and 11 brothers and sisters. June was a lifelong member of the Martinsburg Church of God. She was a 1941 graduate of Morrison Cove High School. She retired from the Roaring Spring Blank Book Co., after many years of service and had previously been employed at Cove Shoe Co. for 10 years. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8PM Wednesday in the Martinsburg Church of God where a funeral service will be held at 11AM Thursday by Pastor Lew Button. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Martinsburg. Contributions in June’s memory may be given tot the Martinsburg Church of God. Arrangements are by the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring.
