FOX, MINNIE A.—Minnie A. Nelson, daughter of Alfred Nelson and his wife, Emma Peterson Nelson, was born in Chelsea township, Fillmore county, Nebraska, March 6, 1879. She departed this life at the Fillmore County hospital in Geneva, April 22, 1966, aged 87 years, 1 month and 16 days.
She grew to womanhood in the Chelsea township, attending the country grade school. She attended Sunday school at the Chelsea United Brethren church, where she became a member on the days of her girlhood.
February 16, 1902, she was married to Edmond L. Fox, sharing his life and love for more than 61 years. To this union were born two sons, Earl and George, who survive.
After farming about ten years in Chelsea township they moved to Geneva where they lived until Edmond’s death November 16, 1963. Shortly after his death she moved to the Fairmont nursing home where she enjoyed life and made many friends.
On moving to Geneva Mrs. Fox transferred her membership to the Methodist church where she was active many years in the Woman’s Society and in the Sunday school. She was a faithful attendant at services of worship.
In the community she was a long time member of the Royal Neighbor and Degree of honor lodges. She was always a good citizen and performed deeds of love and mercy among her friends of the community.
As she grew older, Mrs. Fox had increasing enjoyment in family get togethers, which was crowned by their golden wedding observance February 16, 1953. She will be deeply missed by her old friends and neighbors.
Preceding her in death besides her husband were her parents, two sisters and one brother. There remain to mourn her death, her son Earl and his wife LaVerne of Whittier, Cal., and her son George and his wife Hazel of Salinas, Cal.; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Miller of Geneva and Mrs. Iren Brainard of Omaha, four granddaughters, ; two great-granddaughters, together with several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p. m. Sunday, April 24 at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home in Geneva with Dr. Everett E. Jackman of the First Methodist church of Geneva officiating. Mrs. Oscar nelson, accompanied by Mrs. Melvin Olson, sang “In the Garden” and “Beautiful Isle.”
Pallbearers were Royal Anderson, Wayne Churchill, Eugene Griffith, Howard Jesse, Oscar nelson and Leo Ochsner. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
