Arthur Harlin's shotgun death ruled suicide

Arthur W. Harlin, 65, of 303 N. Philadelphia, was found dead at his home Wednesday morning of a self-inflicted shotgun wound.
The county attorney's office and a medical examiner pronounced the death a suicide. Harlin shot himself in the right temple with a 410 shotgun, police said.
Harlin was found lying dead in a room of his home by his wife, Mrs. Edith Harlin. The shotgun was on the floor a few feet from the body. The shooting happened about 9 a.m.
Asst. County Attorney John Clifton and Mrs. Harlin told him her husband had threatened several times to kill himself. Clifton said Mr. and Mrs Harlin had argued shortly before the shooting.
Harlin's brother, Curly Harlin, was found dead six weeks ago in a seed patch alongside a railroad track on South Philadelphia.
Arthur Harlin was born Sept. 17, 1896, ion the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. He was reared south of Tecumseh and had lived in the Shawnee area most of his life.
He was in Amarillo, Tex. about 10 years and was employed at the air base there until he retired in October, 1961 and returned to Shawnee. He was a World War 1 veteran.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Gill-Mattox American Legion Post.
Funeral services will be in Gaskill Chapel with the time to be announced. Dr. Lowell D. Milburn, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
