Edith Bliss
Birth: Sep. 28, 1959
Queensland, Australia
Death: May 3, 2012
New South Wales, Australia

Singer. She followed a brief pop career with a longer one as a television personality. Born Eda Bliss, she was raised in Brisbane, attended the University of Queensland, and in 1979 relocated to Sydney. Shortly after her arrival she won a singing audition and a contract with ATV Northern Publishing; in November 1979 Edith had a hit with her debut single "If It's Love You Want" and was to follow with "Heart of Stone" and "Two Single Beds" before releasing her 1980 album "Sheer Bliss". Though she was doing well in the music business Edith opted for a switch to television and became a popular presenter on Simon Townsend's children's series "Wonder World" which aired between 1979 and 1986. Following her marriage to "Wonder World" crew member Mark Tanner she remained in Sydney, raised her eventual four children, and was seen occasionally on retrospectives. Edith died after a two year battle with cancer. (bio by: Bob Hufford)
