VALLEY, AL -- Mr. Edward H. "Pop" Alewine Sr., 72, of Valley died Thursday, 6 Jan 2005 at his residence.

Funeral services are scheduled 2 p.m. (EST) Friday, 7 Jan 2005 at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley, AL with Rev George Collins and Rev Pete Alewine officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Huguley, AL.

Mr. Alewine is survived by his wife, Margie Bailey Alewine; four children, Eddie (Sally) Alewine, Cathy Jo Alewine, Billy Wayne (Cynthia) Alewine and Sallie (Mike) Benbrook, all of Valley, AL; three brothers, Gerald (Magalene) Alewine, Cecil (Virginia) Alewine and Pete (Mary) Alewine, all of Cleburne County, AL; three sisters, Linda (Gerald) Garner, Jane (Roy) Welborn and Becky (Billy) Smith, all of Cleburne County, AL; his mother, Dorothy Alewine of Cleburne County, AL; five grandchildren, Christopher (Tina) Alewine, Tonya A. (Eddie) McGraw, Brandy (Daniel) Booth, Kelly (Jonathan) Clark and Joy Hay, all of Valley, AL; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and two special friends, Dawn Massey and Joan Emfinger.

He was preceded in death by his father, L.H. Alewine.

Mr. Alewine was born 16 Nov 1932 in Cleburne County, AL. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served with the US Army. He was formerly employed with Meadow Gold Dairy where he was a mechanic. Mr. Alewine was a member of Midway Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Thursday, 6 Jan 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley, AL.
