Mrs. J. T. Clutter Enters Into Rest
St. Joseph Record March 6, 1942 page 1

After many weeks of suffering and helplessness, following a stroke January 5, Mrs. Sophia Clutter, a resident of this vicinity since her youth, passed away at 6:30 Tuesday morning at her home here. She had been a patient at Burnham hospital seven weeks but had been brought home last Wednesday with a nurse in charge.
Her condition had been critical from the first, and little hope was held for her recovery. Her husband and children were with her daily and a son, Howard, flew from Portland, Ore. to be with her. Everything possible was done to restore her but all efforts availed little.
The end came peacefully in her sleep and she entered into eternal rest as one who "lies down to pleasant dreams." Her husband and children were about her as her life ebbed quietly away.
No epitaph is required for one whose life has been an open book, filled on every page with a record of devoted, loving service to family and friends, unswerving loyalty to those she loved and to the principles in which she believed; Faithful in every relationship of life and generously giving of her time and strength to those about her, neighbors, fraternal associates, and to her church. Cheery, enjoyed especially her home life and her friends, she carried life's burdens with a smile and forgot herself in service for others. Her example of Christian living will remain a benediction to her family, friends and neighbors.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones.
