The Miklavčič family was killed during the last German offensive, from 19 March to 5 April 1945. On 25 March the family's home was plundered and burned (house, barn, hayrack, and mill) because Janez Miklavčič had ground grain for the Partisans; the farm was known as the Mlinar Farm, at Suša no. 2, about 4 km northeast of Hotavlje. The entire family, including six children (the oldest was Lojzka, who had only one leg), was shot and their bodies were burned.
