Belding Banner, 13 May 1914
The body of Hiram Hanks, forty-two years of age, and a son of Eli Hanks, living 3 miles south of Belding, was brought here for burial last Thursday afternoon.
Mr. Hanks lived at Stanton, where he owned a farm. On Saturday preceding his death he was in apparent good health, and finished seeding his oats. He was
taken suddenly sick on Sunday, suffering from ulcers of the stomach, and died Tuesday.
Funeral services were held from the home of his father, Eli Hanks, last Friday at 10:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W.A. Biss, Mrs. E.E. Hudson singing. Interment was made in the Smyrna cemetery.
Mr. Hanks was born near Belding and lived here all of his life until he was married twelve years ago. At that time he moved to a farm near Langston and later sold this farm and bought the one two miles from Stanton, where he died.
He is survived by a wife and four children, the oldest of which is nine years.
He joined the Baptist church when a young man.
