Madeline Baker (also fondly known as "Miss Buck") a resident of Concord, Madeline Baker passed away at her home on Wednesday August 16 at age 86 years. A native of Aliquippa, PA, she was a resident of Concord since 1956. She received her Master's Degree from Columbia University (NY) where she was the first woman Bassoonist to win a full music scholarship. After moving to Concord, she started her teaching career with the Mt. Diablo School District. In 1982 she retired as the Music Coordinator for the District, having touched the lives of many elementary school children and fellow teachers. Preceded in death by her husband Edwin C. Baker, she is lovingly survived by her daughters and son in law Jana Leigh Wagner of Billings, MT, and Jamie Sue & James Moore of Fairfield, CA; grandchildren Justin, Jeanne & Lance Wagner and Austin Moore; 5 great grandchildren; a nephew and niece and their spouses Elaine & Don McPeak of Sun City West, AZ and David & Pat Kreisberg of Peoria, AZ; and several great nieces and nephews.
