Earl Eugene "Gene" Folsom, 77, of Valdosta, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, after a lengthy illness. Born in Valdosta on Nov. 12, 1932, he was the son of the late William S. and Elizabeth Simpson Folsom. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Folsom was the retired owner of Oak Ridge Village Mobile Home Park and he was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Willis, the Rev. Robert Dawson and Dr. Wayne Roberston will officiate. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
