Brooks, wife of the late John Hampden Brooks, who died in Columbia about a month ago, died in her home, "Rosyn," in Greenwood county, near Ninety-Six, Saturday night. Interment was in Elmwood cemetery, following the funeral services at Trinity Episcopal church, this city, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Before her marriage to Maj. Brooks, Mrs. Brooks was Mrs. Jane M. Gist, nee Miss Jane Adams, a daughter of the late Gov. Adams of Richland county. She was a sister of Miss Mary G. Adams, who became Col. Brooks' first wife. Mrs. Brooks is survived by one sister, Mrs. Caroline LeConte, of "Alwehave," Richland county, and seven children--Carroll Brooks, Mrs. William M. Shannon, Miss Nell Brooks, Loudon Brooks, M. Berrien Brooks, Mrs. Benjamin R. Heyward, Barry Brooks and Mrs. Whitfield.
