Sarah was the daughter of Benjamin Hamilton Grant and Martha Perie (some family members spelled this name Peare).
When she was about 16, she had a son named David C. Grant. In 1846 she married Levi C. Littlefield in Turner or Leeds, Maine. David appeared in the 1850 census living with his mother and step father. David died during the Civil War, and is buried in New York, but has a cenotaph in this graveyard.
The 1900 census indicated that Sarah had two children, though none were living in 1900. The other child might have been Benjamin N. Littlefield who is buried in an unmarked grave next to Sarah. His birth and death was not recorded, and he appears in no census records.
Levi made his living as a hotel keeper, and they lived in both Greene and Leeds. Levi died in Leeds in 1854, at the age of 34.
Though no marriage record was found, it seems most likely Sarah was the Sarah H. who married to widower Joseph Ludden of Turner. He was about 30 years her senior. Joseph was a restauranteur, who died in 1871.
In her later years Sarah made her home with her niece Nettie (Peare) Clark in Leeds. Sarah died of "apoplexy" and is buried next to Levi.
