Services were on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Chapel for Carl, who passed away after a brief battle with cancer. Carl was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Lorene; daughter Linda; and grandson Wesley. Carl was born in Hollis, OK, to Elmo and Christine Billington. His stepmother, Advis Billington, and stepfather, Carl Wicker, helped forge his good character. Carl moved to Bakersfield in 1934. He served in the Army Air Corp at the close of WWII. Carl was employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad for 37 years and enjoyed 18 years of retirement. He especially enjoyed fishing for big bass and was a gifted artist.

He was survived by sons David Billington and wife, Michelle, of Seligman, MO; Mark Billington and wife, Marty, of Sierra Madre, CA; daughter Leslie Morris and husband, Jesse, of Chino, CA; brother Bill Billington; sisters Wilma Zoe Sheppard, Brenda Erdman and husband, Bud. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Frazier was Carl's loving companion, who brought much happiness and joy to his life.

Carl will be missed deeply by his family. He will always be remembered for his integrity and setting a shining example for his children and grandchildren to follow.
