Walter was born in Long Beach,CA.He grew up and attended school in Garden Grove.He was known as "Buddy" in his neighorhood and to all of his friends.
His adopted brother Todd Miller,was born after
Walter had died in Vietnam.
Walter arrived in Vietnam 15 March 1969 and
was assigned to 2nd Platoon, Echo Company,
2nd Battalion,3rd Marine Regiment,3rd Marine
During Operation Virginia Ridge,while on a combat patrol on 21 June 1969,Walter tripped a booby-trapped mine and received multiple fragmentation wounds to the head,about 8 kilometers southwest of Con Thien(Hill 158).He
died at 0015H,22 June,abroad the USNH USS
Sanctuary from wounds sustained at 2145H,21 June.
Walter was single and served his country for
10 months and 24 days.KIA#43,368.He had
been in Vietnam for 3 months and 7 days.
Walter was 20 years,3 months and 21 days old.
Survived by his mother;Wanda A Schuster,his
brothers;Patrick,Ronald,Randall and Tana of
10352 Woodbury Road,Garden Grove,CA.
His grandmother;Unetta Scott of 3603 Flower
His father;Walter R Miller Sr,address unknown.
