Rites Here-For Walter Gideon Walter Marion Gideon was born
Jan. 18, 1890 at Hall county, Nebraska, the son of Emma and Price Gideon, and departed this life Dec. 27, 1953, at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 9 days. About the year 1900 the Gideon family moved from Nebraska to a farm east of Moravia in the scattersburg neighorhood, where he spent most of his life as a farmer. He was united in marriage to Miss Effie McCumber, Oct. 21, 1911. To this union one son, Roger,
was born. They took into their home, Betty Mae Hiatt when a
child and raised her as their own, giving her loving care and counsel. Mr. and Mrs. Gideon united with the Chistian church at Moravia in 1913. He was bereaved of his wife July 15, 1943. On Dec. 24, 1944, he was united in marrage to Mrs. Osa Cory. Shortly after their marriage they moved to a farm in the North Bend neighborhood. Two years ago they moved to Winfield, Iowa, where they resided at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife, Osa; son, Roger Gideon, Amana, Iowa; father, Price Gideon, Moravia; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Lockman, Moravia, one brother, Roy Gideon, Floris; three granddaughters, JoAnne, Janice and Jeraldine Gideon; Betty Mea Hiatt Horn and her children, Judy, Jean and Dennis Horn; five nephews, Glen and Lloyd Lockman, Cecil, Sterling, Chester Gideon; a stepson, Lauren Cory of Winfield, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Corita Cory Williams of Plymouth, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his mother, April 15 1949. Funeral serviceswere held Tuesday Dec. 29 at 2:00 o'clock with Turner Funeral home in charge. Rev. John Grenfell officated. Pall bearers were Kenneth Coltrain,
Marve Lockman, Jepp Lockman, Roy Gilliland, Gomer Stocker, and Raymond Lockman. Interment was at Hillcrest cemetery.
