Bernhard ‘Ben' Schweers, a resident of Forest Grove for 18 years died at Guymon hospital Sunday night from a gunshot wound, self inflicted. He had been ill for some time and despondent over continued ill health.
Mr. Schweers was born at Oldenberg, Germany July 30, 1862. He came to the United States in 1883; located at Wilbur, Wash., where he married Martha Mott in 1891. Later they went to Soldier near Fairfield, Idaho, in Camas County. They came to Forest Grove in 1917.
He is survived by his widow and two children: Mrs. Newt Carman (Edna) of Fairfield, Idaho and George T. Schweers of Ventura, Calif. He has a brother and a sister in the United States, the latter in New Jersey and a brother and sister in Germany.
Interment was in Forest View Cemetery.
