The daughter of William Williams, Jr. and Mary "Polly" Pennybaker, Rebecca married Jacob Butcher, Sr. in 1825 in Grainger County, Tennessee. They were the parents of 16 children.

At the time of her death due to a heart attack, Rebecca was 84 years, 8 months and 20 days old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob, who passed away in 1861.

Rebecca was originally buried in Butcher Cemetery. Her grave had to be moved due to the construction of Norris Dam. She was reinterred at Big Barren Cemetery in Union County, Tennessee before 1936.
