Birth: Nov. 8, 1802
Caroline County
Virginia, USA
Death: Jan. 17, 1893
Fort Thomas
Campbell County
Kentucky, USA

Richard Taliaferro migrated in 1814 from Caroline County, Virginia and married his first cousin Alice Taylor Berry, daughter of Washington Berry and Alice Thornton Taylor, on April 21, 1824 in Campbell County. Shortly after she inherited 125 acres in the 'Highlands' and in 1830 construction began on their residence 'Mount Pleasant', which with many modifications is the house still standing at 1810 North Fort Thomas Avenue. Richard had the first school built in the Highlands in 1832 and donated land for the first church. He married his second wife Harriet Louisa McGrew on April 16, 1840, and his third Mrs. Cassandra Paulding Stiff on July 22, 1850, both in Campbell County. Notices of his estate being filed in county court appeared in Newport's Kentucky Journal, February 16, 1893, p. 8, and April 24, 1893, p. 4.
