Services were held for Anna McCarty, 85, at the Episcopal Church with Rev. Stuart Cowels officiating. She was the daughter of Theis and Katherine Sievers. On June 10, 1910, she was united in marriage to Thomas Ford McCarty in Ewing, Nebraska. They moved to Douglas in 1920 where they homesteaded east of town. Here they made their home until 1957 when they sold their ranch holdings and moved to Douglas. She is survived by a son Byron McCarty of Bearimont, California; one grandson, Dean McCarty, whom she raised, of Bothell, Washington; also two granddaughters and two grandsons of California and five great grandchildren; one sister, Rose Meyers, who has taken care of her for the last four years and kept her at home at Bonestell, South Dakota; one brother, Walter of Brunswick, Nebraska, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and one sister. (Information was obtained from her obituary in the Douglas Budget Jan. 29, 1976 and cemetery records.)
