Military Service: War of 1812 - PVT, Capt. Benj. Rudd's Co NY Militia
m. (2) Lucretia Foote in Windsor, Broome Co., NY

"Corning Journal" - December 23, 1880
In Southport, at the residence of his son, Gideon Robbins, Dec. 13th, 1880, Ephraim Robbins, aged nearly ninety years. He was one of the first settlers of the town of Caton, removing there in 1824, when there were but seven families there. He has survived all the early settlers. He was converted fifty years ago, and became a member of the Presbyterian Church on its organization in Caton, soon after. (The church became extinct after about fifteen years.) Mr. Robbins was an earnest and consistant christian man during the remainder of his life. He was a soldier of the war of 1812. He was married in 1814 to Lucretia Newman, of Lee, Oneida Co. She died in 1839. About 1840 he removed from Caton to Windsor, Broome Co., where he married Lucretia Foote. He soon after removed to Iowa, where she died about 15 years ago. He then returned to Caton, and soon after made his residence with his oldest son, Gideon in Southport, remaining there till his death. He died of old age. He was buried in Caton, by the side of his first wife.

"Evening Republic", Buffalo, NY - Thursday, Dec. 30, 1880
- Ephraim Robbins, a soldier of the war of 1812, died December 14th, 1880, in the ninetienth year of his age, at Canton, Steuben county whither he moved his family about 60 years ago, when the roads were little more than forest paths.

August 27, 2013: Word was received from the Caton Town Clerk reporting she was unable to locate any record of Ephraim being buried in Gregory - Wilkins Cemetery. She further stated it is possible that his burial was simply not recorded or it could be he was laid to rest elsewhere. Until it can be documented where Ephraim is buried, a tombstone cannot be ordered. So, if anyone can document the resting place of Ephraim, please let me know. I will maintain Gregory - Wilkins Cemetery as his resting place (citing his obituary) until such time as another location is documented as the site of his interment.
