Her life began May 27, 1916 in Coweta, Oklahoma, where Doctor Samuel and Ruth Murphy Card celebrated the birth of their first child, Delores. Her formative years were spent in Coweta with her siblings, where she attended elementary school. Later moving to Muskogee, she attended Manual Training High School, graduating with the class of 1933. She accepted Christ at an early age in Coweta. Later she united with First Missionary Baptist Church, where she served dutifully and faithfully in several capacities for over sixty years, until her health began to decline. Delores was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Winthrop Boulware in 1939 and to this union four sons were born. After Winthrop's death, she later married Mr. Horacious Ausbie. This union was later dissolved. She and her brother-in-law, Boston Russell along with other family members operated the Coney Island Eatery on North 2nd St. She was later employed as a Psychiatric Nurse at Taft State Hospital, In Taft, where she retired after thirty years. Proceeding Delores in death were her parents, husband, youngest son, Rudy, step-children, Dr. Winthrop Boulware, Jr., and Verina Bell, step sister Alfreda Stevens, brothers, Alphonso and Olan Percy Card, sisters-in-law, Ruby Stanback and Christine Russell, cousins, who were like sisters, Christabel Griffin and Theola Simmons. Those she leaves to cherish their precious memories of her include sons, Reginald (Elzora) Boulware, Kansas City, MO, Renaldo (Barbara) Boulware, Muskogee, OK and Keith (Eve) Boulware, San Jose, CA, grandson, she adopted as her own, Ricci Allen Boulware, San Diego, CA, step-daughter, Lavern Stewart, Dallas, TX, sister, Leoda McHenry, Wichita, KS, sister-in-law, Virginia Card, Tulsa, OK, daughter-in-law, Doris Boulware, twenty-nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. Special daughters, Jocelyn "Chee Chee" Holloway, Wichita, KS and Stella (George) Derrick, Muskogee, OK. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 5th, 2012, 10 a.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery. Hours of visitation will be today from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Ragsdale Funeral Center.
