Mrs. Rebecca Ellen Close, 79, 444 First Street, died at 7:40 pm Wednesday at the Huntington County Hospital after a serious illness of two days, cardiorenal disease.
Mrs. Close was born 4 September 1874, in Huntington County, to George Ludwig and Anna Mary Wilhelm Krieg. She married Charles E. Close in this city, 8 March 1896. The husband died 28 February 1943.
Surviving are four sons, George Dale Close and Dale Max Close, both of route eight; Harold W. Close, Andrews, route two, Wilbur Les "Bill" Close, Wabash; one daughter, Mary Isabel Close Nie, this city; nine grandchildren, Mrs. Marjorie June Hubert, Fort Wayne; Max, Richard, Charles John and Linda Lee Close; Phyllis Ann Nie, Lu Ann and Terry Lynn Close and Cheryl Sue Close and four great grandchildren. A son, Donald Close; six brothers, Michael Ludwig Krieg, John M. Krieg, William H. Krieg, George F. Krieg, Jacob Edward Krieg, and Otto Henry Krieg; three sisters, Mrs. William D. (Barbara Elizabeth Krieg) Schoeff, Mrs. William (Emma Jane Krieg) Wiley, and Mary L. Krieg, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Close had lived her whole life in Huntington County. Interment will be in Lancaster Cemetery.
