Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, April 30, 2012 at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa with Pastor John Sears officiating. Burial will follow at the Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:00 – 10:30 A.M. Monday, April 30, 2012 at Rush Family Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.
Glendora was born April 16, 1920 in Onawa, daughter of Eldie E. and Merle (James) Arney. She attended Onawa High School. She moved to Texas in 1938, where she met her husband.
Glendora and Bud Derrick were united in marriage on December 25, 1940, in Texas. They made their living in Texas until they returned to Onawa in 1959. There, Bud operated Arney's Auto Salvage while Glendora took care of the home. Bud passed away on November 29, 1981.
In 2005, Glendora moved to Le Mars. She resided at the Sunrise Villa for approximately five years, then moved in with her granddaughter Kari (Tim) Tomlinson where she lived for over a year.
Glendora attended the First Christian Church in Onawa and was a member of many bridge clubs.
Survivors include two sons, Tim (Karen) Derrick of Prosser, WA and Gary (Deb) of Sergeant Bluff, IA; one daughter, Linda (Ted) Dreckman of Le Mars, IA; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sharon Nash of Chicago, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud Derrick; a son, Alfred Derrick; and a brother, Calvin Arney.
