My beautiful, treasured, adored Mommy
Dorothy Jean Walner was born at Princess Anne Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia to Mollie Kayer Walner and William Henry Walner. She graduated Matthew F. Maury High School in 1954 and attended Mary Washington College. In 1956, she married Jack Irwin Goodman and their love and romance lasted until her death in 2008.They moved to Atlanta in 1963. She had one child, Amy Michelle Goodman Abramson, born in 1965. She was the beloved Nana to Noah William Abramson, her only grandchild, born in 2000.She was active with the Brandeis Book Sale for years,The Suburban Art Committee, the High Museum,Temple Sinai and a graduate of the Florence Melton Mini School of Judaics. She was often a mystery reader for Noah's classes as well as the classes her daughter taught. She was an unparalleled cook, famous for, amongst other things, her chocolate mousse cake. She loved to read. She adored art, music, fashion, home decor, gardening, Mah-Jongg, travel, her family. She had a soft place in her heart for family pets, prompting one family friend to remark that he "hoped to come back as the Goodman's dog" because she spoiled the dog so much. Once you were her friend, you were her friend for life. She is missed every single day and the world is not as bright since she was taken, much too early, from us.
She was survived by her husband, Jack, her daughter and son in law Amy and Gary Abramson, her grandson, Noah Abramson, many cousins and friends.

Cause of death- Strep Viridans contracted after having dental implants. Please, if you are having dental procedures done, ask about antibiotics, especially if you have any other pre-existing medical condition. (Mom was diabetic)If the dentist tells you that you don't need it, insist. This could have saved my mother's life.
