Services for Mrs. Carlton Fyler, 96, a graduate of Baldwin University, now part of Baldwin-Wallace College, will be at the Baker funeral home, 206 Front Street, Berea, at 3 p.m. today.
Mrs. Fyler, the former Maude Mills, died Wednesday in a nursing home.
Her husband, who died in 1949, was a car shop foreman for the New York Central System at the Linndale yards.
Mrs. Fyler was graduated from the former Baldwin University in 1890 and had been a resident of Berea since 1895. She was born at West Farmington, O.
A long-time member of the Methodist Church of Berea, Mrs. Fyler was an honorary member of the official board of the church, a past two-term president of the Women's Foreign Missionary Society of the church, a member of the official board for many years and had been active in the Women's Society of Christian Service of the church.
She was a member of the Berea Collectors Club, a 50-year member of the Berea Sorosis Club, a founder of the Berea Garden Club, and in recent years, a member of the Golden Age Club of Berea.
Mrs. Fyler was a descendant of four pioneer Western Reserve families, the Hulets, Fosters, Strattons and Mills.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lyle Chambers; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her residence was at 427 Beech Street, Berea.
