PULASKI - Doran Cargile Bollman, 105, was called home by the Lord on April 23, 2012. He was born August 30, 1906 in Davis County, Iowa to Delmar John and October Keith Heady Bollman. Cargile lived his entire adult life in Davis County. He married Mabel Clare Wilcox April 5, 1927 in Bloomfield. They were married 72 years until he death in 1999.
Cargile's family helped found the Locust Grove Church where Cargile served as Sunday school superintendent and song leader. Cargile and Mable both taught in rural Davis County Schools. In 1941 he purchased the Bollman Family Farm near Pulaski, Iowa. He was active in soil conservation work and raised registered Angus cattle. Cargile also managed the Davis County ASCS office and sold real estate. He volunteered at the Lord's Cupboard and visited people in nursing homes. Cargile lived in his own home until he was 100-Years-old, then moved to the family farm where he continued his hobby of carving cedar wood crosses mounted on natural bases.
Cargile is survived by three sons, Robert(Jane)Bollman of Danville, Indiana, Stephan(Dorothy)Bollman of Manhattan, Kansas, Doran(Patricia)Bollman of Pulaski, Iowa; a daughter, Phyllis Wise of Oakley, California; twelve grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Cargile was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother, Herbert Bollman; a sister, Lucille Luko; two granddaughters, Sally Bollman, Susie Bollman; an infant grandson, John Dennis Bollman; and his son-in-law,
Memorial services will be at 2 pm Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Doran Bollman officiating. Visitation will begin after 9 am Friday with the family present to greet friends from 1 pm until the time of the service. A memroial has been established to World Vision Chirldren's Fund.
